CABERNET FRANC ROSE 2008
Sakonnet Vineyards has pioneered the production of fine wines in Southern New England for thirty-five years. All of our estate wines
reflect the favorable maritime climate found along Rhode Island’s beautiful coast.
This dry rose has a beautiful strawberry-cherry color, with medium-
pronounced aromas of spice and cinnamon.. It is light-bodied, which is
characteristic of this type of wine. The acidity is medium and the wine
possesses light tannins as a result of several months of oak aging. Unlike the
previous vintage, it exhibits earthy flavors of dark fruit, including raspberry and
cranberry, as well as clove and tea. The wine’s finish is medium in length, with
the tannins and the earthy character lingering.
This wine is best enjoyed slightly chilled. It pairs well with cream-style cheeses
such as fromage blanc and cottage cheese, hard-aged cheeses like asiago, parmesan or reggiano or semi-hard versions such as fontina, Gouda, jarlsberg or swiss. Other appetizers that match this light-bodied wine include salad with raspberry dressing, antipasto, crab cakes, deviled eggs, pate, prosciutto with melon or fruit and smoked salmon. Suitable seafood dishes are mahi-mahi, red snapper, sea bass, grilled trout, baked sea bass or swordfish, grilled tuna and seafood paella. In summary, this is a versatile food wines due to its light body and acidity, especially in warm weather.
